Re: mc 12: give it some swing
kiopaa, I think it looks much better now, you could bend him back even further in the anticipation of the stroke. And, following what Iest already wrote, the hit doesn't sell as good as it should because in frame 41-42 the racket stops short although it would actually continue on that arc, so it would end up behind his back in frame 47, imo.
Actually I personally like the final pose, looks like he's lost somehow, or hit something he didn't intent to (like the referee)
but thats just my odd sense of humor ![]()

Thanks a lot wolfor and iest for your advices, I really appreciate. Here is the third blocking, of my animation, I added some poses for the end.

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
hey kiopaa, really love the squash and stretch you put into this animation. Perhaps if you have time at the end, as a final polish use a deformer and bend the racquet to stretch that too ![]()

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
I like it!
I just seems the racket hits something in midair on frame 86 (like I said before) and gets diverted from there. Doesn't seem very natural, you might want to address that.
Cheers!

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
Thanks thelittlepenguin84, it's a good idea to add some stretch on the racquet, I will try at the end.
Here is the 1st pass of polish :
I spent a lot of time today to try to fix the gimbal lock problem on F53, but I didn't succeed. Do you have an internet address where I can find a method ?
I tried also to make a good arc on the racquet on F86 like wolfor said. A lot of work remains !

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
Hi!
Looks much better now! The direction in which the racket is going wouldn't have been my first choice, but that's just a matter of opinion
About the Gimbal lock:
In order to avoid it, you need to set the rotation order right, and always the least used axis first and the most used axis last.
Doing this now is probably going to make you redo a major part of your hand animation, so I'm sorry about that. Another thing that might come in handy is the euler filter in the graph editor's Curves menu. If you utilize that, you need to have all rotation curves selected so maya can calculate the most effective curves for your animation.
Hope this helps.
cheers!

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
Hi, here is the final version of my animation :
I tried my best to fix gimbal lock problems, but the rotations was not set in the right order. I made modifications to the rig, ready for the next animation !
Thanks again for all your advices (and thanks for understanding my poor english !)

Re: mc 12: give it some swing
Here's my final Swing.
I wasn't able to do some amendments that I wanted to do to it, but I'm happy with how this one looks. Thanks to everyone for the awesome feedback! Much appreciated!
Looking forward to the sneezing challenge now!
