Re: Ianimate online School...Woaw

What do you mean late enrollment? And come in 2nd semester? You can start with whatever semester that you get enrolled in. If you don't have any experience you will start out semester 1, but if you have some experience, all you have to do is send your reel to Jason and he will tell you which semester you should start in.

Where do you work? are you leaving for a vacation or leaving completely?

Re: Ianimate online School...Woaw

oh thats awesome.. so even if i come in the middle of the semester that would be alright? and id be able to offset all of the work? or do i come in at the beginning of it?

right now, i work at holy cow animation studio's in the Philippines.. we do lots of outsourcing here.. mostly character animation commercials for other countries. I'm moving back to San Francisco with my mom this November. Id like to enroll as early as September but ill be way too busy nearing November. we're taking a week off in Hawaii and ill probably experience jet lag when i get back. Maybe January..

I have a pretty solid understanding of weight, balance, animation principles, etc... thats mostly what i do at the office.. ill probably come into the school on semester 3 or 4.. we'll see.. ill ask if i can grab some of my work from the studio and send it over to jason.. He's been a big influence since the very start.. ive been drawing my planning animations in flipbook for a while now and the workflow i use is very similar to his. I hope to go in to further refine my animation and acting skills.

Re: Ianimate online School...Woaw

Cool Dan, Well you wouldn't be able to come into the semester in the middle, well I wouldn't think because its already going to be demanding it would be insane to catch up. I would look at starting winter semester if I were you which like you said would be around December/January. I saw some of your body mechanics shots of the guy running/sliding and grabbing the spear, very cool man. I would think Semester 3 would be were you would start because that starts facial animation... but that would be up to the pros, not me smile

Jason told me the main rig is pretty awesome, and that were getting a superhero rig too. Probably due to him and a lot of the other instructors working on Megamind. Either way he assured me they were great.

Re: Ianimate online School...Woaw

Are there any good loan options you guys can recommend? I tried to get a loan from SallieMae for AM last year, but was rejected because I didn't have anyone to cosign. But this would be nearly half that (especially if I could skip a semester or two), so I'm hopeful I could work something out.

I don't like the idea of going into more debt, but after going to a 4-year private college (full scholarships, thank God), I don't feel that I'm close to having the skills I need to work at a studio. So an investment now will likely pay off sooner than learning on my own what college failed to prepare me for.
