While true, I think it's possible to co-exist

a 2d online school based off the same ideas as AM would be very nice. or one that has part cg and part 2d

Plus IAnimate just sounds like an Apple program.

From what you get out of AM though... the current deal just seems too good.  Maybe I'm a little naive though, I've always been smart with my money but never really had to hunker down for years to earn it.  So my perspective might be off.  But in comparison with any University or Arts program - can't really complain

First: I think AM is a great school. I learned a lot from them.

Jason Ryan was one of the early mentors at Animation Mentor, and they had to tell him to slow down because he was interacting and helping his students way more then the other mentors. Jason's style is very 2D based and very fast, and feels pretty different then the AM approach.  One of the best animator's I know went through AM but didn't feel confident and at ease until he had gone through Jason Ryan's classes.

Different people learn in different ways, different approaches work better for different people.  Jason has already proven himself to be super passionate about animation and sharing what he knows (and he knows a lot) AM has a large variety of mentors working on different kinds of films which will be hard to match, but they definitely heavily emphasize one approach (which can be very effective, if it works for you).

I'd be surprised if the price changes for either of these schools, but they are still way cheaper and faster then anything else out there (like CalArts or Ringling or Sheridan)

(And for the record I have only bought 2 single webinar's from Jason Ryan, haven't done the whole course.)

I say fair play and good luck to Ianimate, AM seem to be doing a grand job based on some of the work coming from their direction, but there's always more than one way to approach something, and competition can never hurt.

I think Jason Ryan had all the experience (20 years) to compete with AM, I don't know if i'm allowed to talk about the school itself, as everything is not clear yet but sooner the site will be done..but from what I heard...you have to cheer up.....Anyway all the respect to AM, I'm a big fan of this school and i hoped so many times to enroll but sadly the cost was high...I think it will be a friendly competition...

Yeah I suppose that would be pretty awesome to get a critique from Jason himself

I can't wait for this site to officially launch! I want more info!!!   It'd be nice if industry professionals who have already done other schooling can test into the program instead of having to start with the first class like with AM. We'll see!

Everyone harps on about how great AM is but I think that’s because those that weren't happy with the school are too afraid to speak out about it since they might get labeled a trouble causer and some how this could effect there opportunities in the industry.

AM has probably changed a lot since my time there but there was many an occasion when I got a critique I was left thinking "is that it?" Don't be misled by the lengthy critiques provided to winners of the 11 Second Club. There not usually that in-depth or thorough.

Anyway, I guess that’s just the realities of running such a program. Not every student can get a 20-30 minute critique because mentors have lives too and I’m sure some are much more passionate about teaching than others and genuinely love helping students even if it means sacrificing some of there own time e.g. the likes of Jason Ryan, whilst some see it as more of a means to moonlight and earn an extra income.

And for the record, I thought AM was an exceptional school and a great way to learn animation (but if your a complete beginner don't expect to end up with feature film quality animation) if you can't afford the experience of a real school or arn't lucky enogh to have access to an actual mentor (like Shane Kelly did) to learn all the intricate ins & outs of animation.

The site is up now, not just the teaser!  I'm pretty stoked!
