Re: June Competition

It's from the show master of none, season 1 episode 4.  It is on Netflix, and the source is about three minutes into the episode.

Re: June Competition

Hello all
First of all lets keep ONE thread for the June competition.
.
I think sharoni3d was after the clip not just info.
.
All right let me start this thread properly.
The obvious:
choice here is to animate a female director talking to the male actor.
Notice...........................
I say a female & a male ......so it could be any animal, vegetable, mineral
---------------------------
Now,
to the place of the action which gives/suggests you to use props (remember b/g is welcome but
not necessary if you want to to it do it last)
The place could be
on a life theatre stage......or
on a movie set........or
in the sound studio (like they do voice over for animation or english/any language dub)
---------------------
Again,
on stage
she or he could peep out a curtain, sit on a chair or even a ladder ...ha ha ha
You can place your camera from audience sits or a balcony.
movies
the director can be looking out/behind a camera (I leave moves & gesture to animate
up to you, Voice 1 can be standing or walking around Voice 2 so # 2 has to follow #1 or turn in place )
or she can push the microphone on to his face.............LOL
sound studio
she can sit behind a big sound studio mixer or in the process of standing up & he behind a glass in sound proof room in front of a mic. holding it swinging it ect use your imagination & animate it
----------------------
ALSO
prepare yourselves for a lot of lip-sync......meaning allocate more time for
that part of your project. It is much more talking here than in May competition was.
Now
the floor is yours for more unconventional not so obvious ideas for June 2016 audio
there you go
cheers

Try to be different from the obvoius..... i would go with a call centre boss. speaking to a tele sales guy.

Re: June Competition

Hey kalel6,
Well as I said floor was yours for not so obvious. A good idea.
Yes, you could do that Voice 2 = he could take his phone earpiece off
his head as he would say his last line:
Voice 2: You know, I'd rather not, I just fell kinda weird doing it, is that OK?"
That gives you some interesting poses as he speaks.
OR
put down his receiver if you you decide to use the old land line phone,
Another props to use here:
PC, table desk, note book, pen instead of a receiver, partition cubical panels,
office cubical.
A call centre boss can emerge from behind that partition cubical panel
or can lean on it when speaking...ect
cheers

Re: June Competition

Has anyone submitted a 2D/vector animation before? That's the medium I have chose (to reasons of lack of experience) and am wondering what's been done like that here before.

Re: June Competition

Also, another idea that I have is to place it in a setting where he is giving a spoken password, like the classic door (LotR) or computer. She may be over radio then, so scene cuts

Re: June Competition

Hello greeNeStcheetah,
I'm using the 2d vector animation software called Toon Boom Animation v 8
(I've had it since v 2.0) I also have Flash & couple others but TBA is much friendlier
for animators (imao) drawing pose to pose or straight ahead 2d animation.
I have seen some competition works done in Flash if you want I can point
them out for you.
What a 2d vector animation software you had in mind ? Just out of curiosity.
Any software will do as long as you stick to the  competition rules.
You find them here:
http://www.11secondclub.com/competitions/current
.
Btw, what important is that  you amaze us & administrators with
fabulously done character animation including (if I'm correct):

*Disney's 12 basic principles of animation
*out of this world acting but still believable to be done by character of your choice
*face expressions that nonverbal communication you know
*correct lip-sync
*cute clip cuts ...ha ha ha (laughing @ cute) your movie edit
*interesting camera angles
*good story (it's a bonus)
*& background  (it's a bonus as well)
*Somehow I do not think you will have time for lightning in 2d.
And
you are the winner, when you know what you’re doing, it’s a piece of cake.
Oh & you have to apply that knowledge in practice. Don't forget that....lol
.
Now,
your idea of "giving a spoken password" is out of the box ....LOVE it ! COOL !
I can picture them standing in front of a cave door where she tries to
persuade him to say "Open Sesame" with an Indian accent forgetting
that it ought to be in Arabic rather.............LOL
or
make a split screen: he's in front of computer on the phone,
she is on the mobile having that dialogue:
" I want to try ..............blah, blah, blah.......just fell kinda weird doing it, is that OK?"
I do not think anybody has done a split screen here yet .
Those are good unusual scenarios.
Why don't you animate your idea in that 2d vector animation software
of yours. Only 12 days left to the deadline, You'd better hurry up.
cheers
Ps.
dannykneip what 2d vector animation software you're animating your 2d
entries?

Re: June Competition

Hi acolors,

I also use Toon Boom.  Tried all sorts of other programs, but TB works well with my work flow.

I'd also like to try Krita 3.0 series with built in animation abilities and OpenToonz.  And whenever they improve the grease pencil a wee bit more, I'd try Blender, which I'm very familiar with.
