Bridge Talk

Hey everyone, I've wrangled up a rough animatic for yall so I can see what you think.  This will eventually be a 3d animation, I just wanted to sketch up some poses.

I'm picturing this happening at a handrail type-thing next to a river, like on the edge of Manhattan.  Also am thinking there'd be a camera cut when it goes to the last pose, and it'd be an over-the-shoulder view from a second character (seeing the main character full body).

Re: Bridge Talk

"earned the right to life a little before I die" it feels like the character should be at their their lowest point, physically and emotionally because she is questioning their thinking and rational.

Re: Bridge Talk

I definitely see what you're getting at.  My interpretation was she did believe she earned the right, and that boosted her up, and then at the end she questions herself and 'deflates'.  I'm sketching up some poses with your idea in mind though, and I'll see if it reads better, thanks!

Re: Bridge Talk

Hey everyone, cooked up another version for ya.  A lot of the beats are the same, though hopefully more clear.  I've also shifted it to a solo, personal monologue.  The general emotional arc slopes down, heads back up, peaks, and settles down again. (Hopefully this also reads).

Re: Bridge Talk

It's in 3d!  Changed a couple poses that didn't read quite right in 3d, feels like it's working better.  Let me know what yall think!

Re: Bridge Talk

I liked the last animatic you did.   Personally, I think the 3d could use another pass against the animatic.  There are a few really good silhouettes and head tilts that didn't get on the puppet.

Re: Bridge Talk

I agree with Paul. In your animatic, there's a very distinct (and good) change between the pose of 'just maybe' and 'I've earned'. Maybe (just maybe) take the arm out of the silhouette a bit more to screen left, and possibly open the fingers more.
I'm also not sure about the pose in 'and maybe'. It looks kind of "acted", which stands out, as the rest of your poses feel very natural and real.

Really like your shot, btw. smile

Productive!

Re: Bridge Talk

Coming along! One thing I have to suggest is to change the pose on "die." It's extremely stiff and lacks the life you have in most of the other poses. It looks forced. Good luck with the entry!
