Re: Walt Disney
The thing that annoys me about most modern treatments of his life is that they seem to be very eager to hint that the really, really, real truth has been hidden from us by a conspiracy of some sort.

Re: Walt Disney
The Problem occurs simply from overexciting the nice uncle Walt image all over the Place and more or less uninformed people who think that someone who produces such beautifull movies has to be a nice person. Also you bring a completly different moral understanding with you, the living today is really different from the beginning 20century.
Major changes in human rights where accomplished in the late 60s and are still in change and not overall accepted like gender equality, equality of races or acceptence of gay people. Most of this social evolutions or revolutions walt even not witnessed cuz they happenend after his Death.
So if you try to messaure someones behavior some decates ago with todays moral understanding you will find many many reeaaaally bad people. Just saying: In Medieval Europe 12 to 14 years was the perfet age of marriage for the girls.
When talking about History consider enviromental circumstances.

First of McCarthy Era was mid-20 century and back then i doubt the moral-standards differed much from todays corporate america. So what difference we talking about here? Cell-Phones, Computers, FaceBook or just the fact that yesterdays comunists become todays terrorists. Just a change in names. And how does this 'human-rights' thingy fits you if you know that a few miles off-shore people still get tortured?
Real accomplishments since then, eh?

Re: Walt Disney
I didn't watch the video, but I can guess what it's about. This is why the internet wastes so many peoples time. Because people feel compelled to argue over frivolous matters such as this. I just don't care and let others believe what they want to believe.

Do you even Know how the world looked like back in the 30's till mid late 50's ? Real acclompishments since then? Oh yes!! Back then in the US people wherent treated equily just due Skincolor. Today the US has even a Black President. The discussion about homosexuell partnerships wasnt even on the table in the earl 20th century and equality of genders was just about to start. The great anti War movement started in the late 60s due the great and so cruel media coverage of the vietnam war. Never befor did people at home see the groos side of war so exlusivly while sitting on the couch drinking beer.
You also have to take into account that Walt wasnt that young anymore. Born in 1901 he was around 50 in the McCarthy era and also raised from people from the 19th century. So he grew up with both World Wars and also cold war where all this outrages anti comunism ideology is originated in.
walt was 12 as Ford started building cars on an asembly-line for the first time in history. And now adays we alrady see the huuuuge problems this lead the ecology and world into.
I guess the US militry was able to do such things like in Guantanamo back then on every US miltiray basis no matter where it was located now adays thats not possible anymore..
And why this is still good even if there is something like Guantanamo ? Because its still better then befor and every journy needs a start. Every step take us further to the goal even the smallest.
