First Steps into Animation....
These are 2 of the first animations i've completed over the past 2 or 3 weeks since starting my 3D Animations Class.
The First Video is Simply Just a Ball Falling into the Scene And Bouncing Around off the Surrounding Objects, Simple X and Y Translation With Single Axes Rotation (Hard to see the rotation since no texture was set on the object.) was used in the animation.
The Second Video is of a Brick and Feather Falling Showing the Difference of how each falls due to weight and air resistance. X, Y, And Z Translation was used Along With Rotation of Multiple Axes for the tumbling of the brick and the spinning and flipping on the feather.
Thank you for taking the time to watch these short animations and any constructive criticism that can be shared to try and help me improve would be greatly appreciated.

Re: First Steps into Animation....
Falling motion is a very specific sort of movement and you have to get it very close to right or it looks wrong.
On another forum I made some comments on another forum member's bounce test regarding pacing the up and down motion more realistically. Perhaps you will find them relevant. You can watch them in video form in this post...

Re: First Steps into Animation....
Thank you very much. After watching the responses from the posts you linked i understand a little better on how to approach the animation. During my next class once i have the time i will practice and attempt to remake a better composition on the animation, at least until i am comfortable with how it looks.

Re: First Steps into Animation....
You're arms are unnatural in your last walks, since they went forward at the same time as the corresponding leg did. Look at yourself walk, your arms move opposite to the leg below them to balance. Your timing needs work, but you're getting there. An average walk usually takes 12 frames, or half a second so you're a little slow. I don't have the time to explain it all but look up some different ideas of animation. Start with the 12 principles of animation, really useful stuff. And then you can move onto more advanced topics of course later. But if I can tell you anything it's that BASICS ARE THE KEY. Here are some nice resources:

Re: First Steps into Animation....
Ya the big thing that messed with me is since i used IK Handles and did not make controllers placement of the upper limbs later in the animation was a bit tedious. i would have done better to probably just don't IK on the feet for the feet, and FK for the rest of the animation.

Sorry, but I just had to say this:
Whoever this instructor is, charging people, and is calling this a 3D Animation Class...
...should be out right ASHAMED of themselves! ![]()
Could you imagine if I:
- was teaching a class
- charged people for it
- to then telling my students, "Go to 11SecondClub so they can give you feedback!"
Uuugghh... but excuse me? Isn't that YOUR job, Mr. Instructor-charging-people-their-hard-earn-money-and-cant-even-give-feedback-to-better-their-animations? Why are you charging and calling this a 3D Animation Class then?!?!
Seems to me, you're better off learning on your own and should save your money!
*** I apologize in advance if I'm so far from the subject at hand AND if this is a Non-Profit Organization Class!

Our instructor is giving us feedback on our work, we have the Entire class do a critique once we finish an assignment. He just wants us to put it up here so we can show to more people and see what other people have to say. isnt it better to have 100 people give you tips on what to do better than just 10?
our instructor is doing an excellent job with the class for the time frame that we have. since it is an accelerated class its only about 3 months long. and there is just so much to learn.
but please don't think that just because we are posting our works up here for critique that our instructor isnt doing his job.
