Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey Josh,

I decided it was safer in both the short and long terms to reference as you suggested. I re-made all my connections onto the referenced rig. The only hitch is that I can't get the new glove geometry I made to follow the master move control. All the other hand controls work perfectly. As far as I can tell, the setting on each piece matches those on the original hands, which I just turned off visibility on. What am I missing here? I tried various parent constraints but alas! I'm running out of ideas.

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey again, I'm not sure I follow 100%. Are your gloves skinned to the rig? Are you saying they move with the arms but not with the master move?

How specifically are they connected to the rig?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Josh, I figured it out. I had them skinned to the wrist and not the palm. Problem resolved! I now have a weird thing happening where if I move the arms in IK mode and then zero out the value to get back to base pose, it doesn't return all the way. I have to switch to FK and zero out the individual joints. I have a jacket skinned to the body geo that I haven't fixed weights on, so maybe that's the issue? I'll probably animate in FK mode anyway so that problem is minimal so long as its not part of a larger problem.

Thanks again!

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey Josh,

Is it possible to morph the feet (or play with the vertices of the geo)?  I found a pair of shoes in the costume set, but they don't fit right.

Please let me know if this info is in one of your videos, and I'll check there instead of expecting you to explain it again. smile

Also, have a safe and happy Independence Day!

Thanks again,
Chris

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey Chris, yup, you should be able to do that fine. Make sure the body is zeroed out, dup it and feed that new geo into the body morph blendshape. Make your mods, turn on the weight of that channel so it's deforming the body and you should be good to go.

I cover the blendshape stuff to a pretty good detail in the Blendshape that vid and I cover a bit more in the faceware demo I did a couple of months back just search my name and 'faceware' on vimeo.

Happy Fourth!

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hi,

When i render morpheus, every thing is ok.
but when i reference another character in scene (Like Alice and any other free rig)
then morpheus face and hand rendered like a White screen,
If i remove other referenced character than it will too work fine.
Please suggest how to fix that ?

Thanks in advance smile

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey Green, solid white or just blown out? Possibly there is a light in the other rig coming in. Another possibility is the new rig is changing render settings somehow.

This is the first I've heard of this so sorry I don't have more insight. Maya version? Anyone else have idears?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hi Josh and gang, total noob here. I don't see any morpheus icons on the toolbar when I restart Maya 2013. And all the other scripts are they loaded automatically?? BTW one of those links (jtdparentui) is no longer valid.
Your beginners video shows you "referencing" the rig but not the initial install and setup.
Like I said total noob.

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey jimmelb, did you dump the scripts stuff in the right folders in your maya install? I'm gonna try to install the shelf to my 2013 copy....seems to work okay...make sure you're putting the two folders in your 2013 folder (on mine is -J:\My Documents\maya\2013-x64)

If you can't find that script, it's in cgmonks tool box at cgmonks.com
cgm/mel/here

Keep on trucking:)

...
Note- there are some other issues with Maya 2013 as well if you read up a few posts with it breaking the right click menus so if you want to use Morpheus and want full functionality, you may wanna stick with 2012 or below. I'm working on the tools now to make Morpheus 2.0 and would rather get that done than go back and get the old one working again:)

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hi there,

I've made my own character which has 2 sets of arms. I have skinned the body, face and first set of arms to the Morpheus rig. The other arms are using the AB Autorig and has been connected to the Morpheus rig so everything deforms and moves with the rest of the body. The only issue I'm having is with the Morpheus hands for the first arms. Although I baked the body geo over, everything works but the hands. The hands and fingers don't even show up in the painting weights section. The controls on the hand rig still works perfectly, it just won't bake to my own geo. I've tried extracting the hands from the body and trying to bake them separately, I've tried exporting them as new objects and baking but nothing seems to be working despite the **Debug message saying it has. Does anyone have any ideas how I could go about this?

Thanks so much,
Heather

I don't see any of the options of parenting or switching to FK/IK or anything when I right click on the controls.

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Just downloaded the Morpheus rig today and I must say WOW this rig is AWESOME. Being an Animation Mentor graduate, I have to say, unfortunately, that it beats Bishop into the ground in terms of the flexibility in the face and such.

Waiting eagerly for Morpheus 2.0!!

there are some other issues with Maya 2013 as well if you read up a few posts with it breaking the right click menus so if you want to use Morpheus and want full functionality, you may wanna stick with 2012 or below. I'm, not sure if it's an issue with Morpheus in Maya 2013 or not but there are times when I have to completely restart Maya because the "S" and "Delete" key just stop working all of the sudden...

Anyone else having this issue?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hello,

i have a problem with the Morpheus Rig. I imported 2 Characters as References. Modeled Clothing for one of them and wanted to delete the Body_Geo Node. But i can't for it's giving me // Error: Cannot delete 'Jesus:body_geo' as it has locked or read-only children. //

i google the hack of it and cant find any solution. Now i even tried to import 2 morpheus rigs not as References. but then i have the problem, that both character have the same Node_names.

Any Suggestions ?

Regards 47thRonin

Hi!

I'm discovering this awesome morphy rig for few days.. but I'm still looking for a way to obtain outer and inner lips
for phonem "m" " b" & "o" "u". Is there a way to push lips in extrem positions in/out?

Can't wait to test the morphy v2.0.
You did an impressive work Josh. Thank You so much for that!

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey guys, we're trying a new solution for supporting our rigs and tools. Please start posting your questions at keyframeco-op.com and we'll try to keep the answers in one spot. The site is in beta right now so we appreciate your help testing there.

zok, your answer is already there:)

47thRonin, it sound like your reference settings may not to set to resolve all nodes and some conflicts are happening or that you're trying to delete referenced geo which isn't possible. You should be making those geo changes in your referenced asset.

jnethery, no idea why 's' or 'delete' would stop working. Do you have any more info?

Kaiser, maya 2013 broke that. If you're in an early version it should be working when right clicking the appropriate control.

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Having a problem rendering Morpheus. I'm rendering in Mental Ray in Maya 2013 on a referenced file and I'm getting large black rings around the eyeball. The pupil and iris are fine then there is a band of white then a band of black. I've tried changing settings in mental ray but without luck. The only thing that has made a difference is smoothing the eye but then I get two black bands around the eyeball.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
Is there a decent all purpose set of mental ray options that works well with Morpheus?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hello everyone!

I'm using Morpheus for a short choreography that I've been wanting to animate for a really long time.

I have a problem; I can't seem to get the feet off the ground. Once I've tried the feet are distorted really badly (so I can't make him walk).

What can I do to solve this?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Latos, I've not done it but I've seen it done. Sorry don't know very much about cloth. Dive in and solve problems as they come up:)

Nixon, there is a teaserImage file that comes with the pack that I used to render the teaser image. Several folks have used that as a base.

Elena, it sounds like you're trying to move joints. Toggle off joint selection and select the nurbs curves to move things.

Please use http://keyframeco-op.com/ for future Morpheus questions. Thank you. smile

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hi everyone !
Hope this is the right place for this. I 'm new here, and this is my first post...
I'm doing an animation with Morphy, and as I've finished most of the blocking and splinning, next step would be making facial expression, wich I can't.

My problem is, I did template some props in my scene, but I made a mistake untemplate all the things in the scene. I made this mistake at the beginning of my work, so I didn't see this coming, but all Morphy parts were displayed, and as I'm new to maya I had a hard time hiding things who haven't to be there.

So, I thought everything was ok but now I'm stuck with the eyes, which I can't move. I think I un-parent the eyes from their controllers or something 'cause nothing moves. I tried to find the right component to re-parent, but I'm lost in the outliner. I didn't work in reference, I was told not to... this was supposed to make me learn something, i don't know what except reference wan't there for the beauty of the art...

So, what should I do to fix this ?

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey All,

I am getting an error message when opening the morphy rig on maya 2012 on a mac.  When I open the rig I get the following alerts:

// Error:         artAttrCreateMenuItems( $parent, $paintAttr ); //
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to artAttrCreateMenuItems. //
// Error:         artAttrCreateMenuItems( $parent, $paintAttr ); //
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to artAttrCreateMenuItems. //
// Error:         artAttrCreateMenuItems( $parent, $paintAttr ); //
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to artAttrCreateMenuItems. //
// Error:         artAttrCreateMenuItems( $parent, $paintAttr ); //
// Error: Wrong number of arguments on call to artAttrCreateMenuItems. //

The rig seems to be working fine right now.  I just want to make sure that I don't get too far down the road with a shot and find that this error has serious ramifications.  I tried trashing the prefs, but the error still occurs.

ANy help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Re: The Official Unofficial Morpheus Thread! (ASK QUESTIONS HERE FIRST!)

Hey guys! I recently made a handful of custom Morpheus characters. The feet were working up untill the end. At some point something happened that broke both feet controllers. Now whenever I move feet controllers either ways, I get this strange stretching. The controller still moves, but it seems the bottom of the feet are stuck to the ground. Here is a picture of the issue im getting. Please help! I have a Final due on Tuesday night that I need to have done this week.
