Re: Dave's June Competition

I am trying to communicate that he is talking to an audience. I might model something for the background to do that at the very end. Here is more of my progress so far:

Re: Dave's June Competition

Copied pairs plus some adjustments. Time to go back to stepped and do some breakdowns once I am sure I am heading to the right direction. Anyone?

Re: Dave's June Competition

Seems like a good start, though I'm not sure I understand the composition. Is there a reason he's so small in the frame?

Re: Dave's June Competition

hehe... pretty good!

- I think he should "snap" or move a bit quicker with his LF_Arm when saying "...here!"
- I think when he say's "...2 men in turn, 1 man leaves" he could make eye contact with the camera; make it kinda personal? hmm
(...but these are just probably MY personal preferences, hehe... take it with what you will... nice piece either way!)

Cheers! big_smile

Re: Dave's June Competition

I am gathering reference and doing some planning for the facial pass now. Once I get that defined, I am going to refine posing and push things a little.

Re: Dave's June Competition

Hmm, it seems the sound clips plays about 3 frames sooner in my playblasts in comparison to Maya viewport. This ruins my workflow and I still have not started on lipsync. Any ideas?

EDIT: I think it was just Quicktime being slow.

Re: Dave's June Competition

Maya viewport playback and playblasts will always be different. The viewport is just a representation of real time playing back, its not 100% accurate, so never rely on that. That's why I playblast all the time...every couple of minutes playblast and check what you've done

Re: Dave's June Competition

It was just me thinking there was issue where it was not. I meant more in terms of audio graph information in the timeline. I thought that is pretty accurate. Is not it?

Re: Dave's June Competition

Wow - that is almost the same thing I have - pose for pose!!!
Get out of my head!

Looking good though (I should think, I have the same look almost. wink ) lol
Might have to rethink what I do now.

I might be backing back to this version. Seems punchier, does not it?

Wow, I really have to practice facial animation. This is my first pass that took longer than expected:

Re: Dave's June Competition

The gesture for fighting (around frames 40-50) feels late.  Confused on the ending.
Overall it is really looking solid!  Keep it up!

Re: Dave's June Competition

yeah for me the poses are late...maybe highlight all the keyframes and slide them back a little bit.

Re: Dave's June Competition

Rough lipsync sync is in, still have to animate the rest of the face from 82-250F.

Thanks guys, I will try to address that. I will have to playblast more often like KyleG suggested.

Re: Dave's June Competition

I am finding a few flaws in my workflow and I am not sure if I should just go with what I have. I feel uncomfortable with good enough. I might get rid all of the "mess" and take the essence of the performance and push it. Any opinions?

Re: Dave's June Competition

Redid the whole beginning and plan to do the same thing with the ending.

EDIT: I might just polish what I had previously for the competition though.
