May Entry --Two Dudes--
My current WIP for May's competition.
I worked figuring out some of the poses in stepped and slowly starting to spline them out. So it's a mix right now. I also need to tweak eye lines and hand poses. The reticle in my shot cam keeps batching out wider than the resolution gate which I hope to have fixed for my next playblast.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Re: May Entry --Two Dudes--
Be careful with your eyelines and how close your character is getting. The character on the left starts out instantly in the other guys face. Would be better to have him slowly get closer throughout the shot, then finally get right in his face when he loses it at the end. Also the last pose, the guy on the left looks like he's looking at someone else across the room, make sure he's looking at the other character. Keep it up!!

You're very right about the eyelines are they are kind of all over the place now. I'm starting to clean that up now and get more clarity out of everything. I'll try inching the left dude a bit further back, I was debating with myself if it was too close even though it gets closer at the end but you're definitely right.
I'll have to work a lot more on the poses for the right guy. I'm trying to convey he's just kind of drifting off/a bit of an airhead but I need to make that clearer.
Thank you for your advice!

Re: May Entry --Two Dudes--
After voting on every entry for last month for the first time in a long time, I have to say that it really pains me to see two seated characters. These animations are a major effort for anybody, why not get the most practice you possibly can from so many hours of work? Sure, there are seated characters in film, but a very wide majority is full body, head to toe performance. I'd branch out if I were you, reframe and restage this piece, and show off your full body animation skills.
When I'm mentoring at AM I have the advantage of being able to ORDER my students to do this ![]()

This being my first 11 Second Club submission, I am hoping just by doing this and posting my process it will build more confidence with my animation skills. I'm taking baby steps (and they are probably funky ones), but don't give up on me! ^_^ I don't mean to bring you pain.

I don't know, If I was short on time I'd rather spend half the time learning a full skillset than all of my time learning half the skills.

It may be personal choice, but I'd rather spend this short time seeing what I can accomplish before diving in head first ![]()

Re: May Entry --Two Dudes--
I'm clearly not going to be able to fully complete this. BUT, I'm still hoping to at least have a decent little piece of just with the one dude talking.
This is my first pass with the lip sync. I had tons of trouble with the part where he starts to mumble a bit. Any suggestions what I could do better are so welcome.

Re: May Entry --Two Dudes--
looking good so far man. i think you can add a pose in the mouth on the "and...and" in the dialogue to match it better. Also it doesn't quite look like he's looking at the guy on the last pose. Keep tweaking bro!

Re: May Entry --Two Dudes--
Muchas gracias!
That's it! Your comment about adding a pose to "and..and" just lit a light bulb in my head. I've been having a lot of problems with that part and what you said helped me release what I am missing. I'll make some fixes tonight, thanks!
