May WIP
Hey guys!
Working on this months entry. I really don't have much to show currently because I've been pretty busy but I figure I'd put something up anyway.
Pretty simple premise - the character in the background is either going to be getting ready or just checking himself out in a mirror while the foreground character is talking. Background character is not really listening. He's just kind of nodding in agreement until the climax of the sound clip.
I have some ideas for how I want it to end but I'll be figuring that out in a little while.
Please let me know what you guys think. Sorry for the lack of more key poses!

Re: May WIP
Hey guys. I added a couple more poses and changed up the staging a little bit. I was a little apprehensive about placing the secondary character in the foreground but I think in the end it will be for the best.
It sucks. Because of work I can only add a few keyframes a day
Hopefully on the weekend I can truck on through it.

Re: May WIP
After taking a bit of a break and looking at the playblast again I think the first second or so is generally uninteresting. I need to change up the poses a bit to get a bit more performance out of the character.

Re: May WIP
I took a look at my WIP with fresher eyes today. I feel as if he is moving too quickly towards the left. I spaced out the keyframes which slowed down the timing on those first few poses. It seems to flow a bit better with the audio. I'll try and post an update tonight.
It's awfully quiet in here...

Re: May WIP
First up good work so far. The animation seems to be comming along quite well. The first feedback I have is the camera position. The characters are standing too close to the edges of the screen. It might be a good idea to bring them in a little so they both are on the third line. Are you familiar with the rule of thirds? The second thing I noticed was the pose around the 160 mark where his legs cross over. It seems like a bit of an unnatural pose and it looks like he is about to fall over.

Re: May WIP
The bend in the torso of the talking character looks great, the pacing around is helping to build that tension, but the acting choices seem a bit overboard, as if the guy is trying hard to sell the line.

I'll try and bring 'em in tighter and see how it looks. I see what you're saying about that last pose. Maybe I'll scrap it and try something different.
Thanks for your input, man.
Edit: I brought them tighter together. I think it really helped the atmosphere. Cheers!

Thanks Omegaman! When you say the acting choices seem a bit overboard do you mean the overall acting is overboard or just the last bit?

Re: May WIP
Hey guys,
I haven't been able to work much more on the animation this last week. I'm also going to Europe for 10 days on Thursday so I'm a little worried I won't be able to have much done by the end of the month.
Anyways, I made a little bit of progress today. I altered the timing a little bit more. I'm not 100% certain that it's correct so I'll be taking a look at it again tomorrow. I just made a couple more 'tweens and did some tweaks to his right arm. I still think there is some twinning going on with the arms that I need to get rid of but I'll save that for another day
I regrettably haven't been able to touch the last few poses but I'll be getting around to that tomorrow. I think I might try and change his final pose. It's impressing me less and less every time I look at it.
Anywho, here's what I have so far.
