Re: laugh
I feel like the final pose is a little forced. It doesn't feel natural. I think it might be because the eye handles (or whatever you call them in 3D) are the only thing you're changing. If a person made such a huge eyebrow movement then the rest of the face would compensate as well. The cheeks especially.
Anyway, good luck with the sound issue and continuing the animation. It's certainly going in the right direction from the first to the second!

Re: laugh
actually not having the audio play sometimes can be a good thing.
http://blog.11secondclub.com/2011/08/ti … audio.html
Watching this with no audio I wouldn't have known that the character was suppose to be laughing. Lauhing comes from our diaphragm...which is in our chest, so you should be seeing more movement there.
watch this video on mute and you can easily tell they are laughing

Re: laugh
@KyleG It's interesting, without the sound it's only the smiles that really convey they're enjoying themselves. Otherwise so many of them look in pain! Ha ha... Fine line I guess. ![]()

Re: laugh
this laugh is make me feel to close my eyes and encourages to move pretty dynamically. you should work more on your facials. ![]()

Re: laugh
Just something I noted while studying laughs: As the laugh progresses, it is the shoulders that look to be moving the most oscillatory. The jaw never opens and closes, infact it stays pretty much wide open the whole time. The torso generates the up down motion which flows through the rest of the body leading to the limbs doing their overlaps. Of course this is a generic laugh and everyone laughs differently depending on their personalities and how much of a funny bone do they have.

Re: laugh
Thanks for the comments. I'm starting to layer on the face beyond the few poses i had in blocking as well as try to get the laugh looking like its coming for the chest. i'm finding it hard to get it looking great without looking funny because he's walking but it's getting there. i need to do more work in the shoulders as well and start to iron out my offsets a bit more.

Re: laugh
I'm looking at my gestures and it feels a bit repetitive with his arm going to his chest twice so i'm playing with the idea of holding his arm down until the final reveal. Here are both versions as they currently stand. Thanks for helping me solve the sound issues littlepenguin
Going up, with a bit more polish on the shot then the last update
Down until the end

Re: laugh
Calling it a day. Trying to add some texture to the performance. The finger twirl needs to be much slower I know.

Re: laugh
Finding that simple is far better. trying to cut down the poses in the face and work within 3 main poses.

Re: laugh
please remove the finger twirl and bend the tip of the finger back as he pushes the button
you need to add some weight to the button and I have just read kye's post and agree completely

Re: laugh
Yeah that facial pose wasn't reading well at all. I need to work within less poses. Thought maybe the eyebrow raise will add to pushing the viewers eyes up with the missile.
I'm trying to get the finger twirl to give the idea that he sees his evil as a game and not as something serious. Hence the playing with the botton beforehand to show this. If I were to scrap that gesture what could take its place?

Re: laugh
Had a late start to the day but got some real work done. ironed out some more in my posing as well as ditching the twirl gesture for a strong push on the button. Ditched a ton of frames.
I have to get ready for hockey playoffs now.

Re: laugh
Team Rocket of course!!
Gave eric a crit on skype, the first place I feel his shot is lacking his the walk itself With the root moving incorrectly, its throwing off the presence of the whole piece

Re: laugh
Ok i cleaned up my root and changed the arch as well as the timing on the hand with the remote. Played more with the face and am trying to get a stronger end pose. I also added an evil henchmen! he only has a few keys right now but i'll clean him up a bit.
