Work-life balance
Just curious, but how is everyones work-life balance?
I love animation a lot, and I'm aiming to get a job in the industry, but there are a few things in my life I need to amend. This of course requires time to do, and I'm just worried I won't have the time to do it.
I'd love to socialise more during the evening (I barely did this at college for a variety of reasons, sadly), learn to drive, be in a band etc etc. I just fear not having the time to do it all.
Of course it depends on where you work, but I'm just interested in what you guys have to say about it all.

Re: Work-life balance
I had no worries to do both while working for TV series.
I guess it depends on the studio mostly and also the project.

Yeah, it depends on how cool a studio you manage to get into. Some studios are so cool, that you get to do all of that at the studio itself. Some tend to be a bit harsh on personal times. I guess its just luck at the end of the day. Also, actively doing all that you can to make time for yourself is critical too. And important too !

Re: Work-life balance
Good to hear, hopefully I can find a decent studio then!
To me out of my life and animation, life certainly comes first, and I've always got to remember that.
Hopefully this year I can do all of what I said, because if I can't I'd probably quit whatever studio I'm at, or go into something else.

Anyways, there is no good animation when the animator stays enclosed in a room 24/7 to animate.
A big part of animation is observing life and living it.

I totally agree with Toutouffe. Your animation will only be as good as the life you live.
