I really like some of the poses, and the quality already is very nice and appealing!

As far as timing goes, I think when the kid puts his head down at the same time as the dad is moving it gets very confusing. I'd separate those two actions.

It might also be nice to have him hug the kid before the final line. I'm not sure, you could try it at this stage. I think it would make it more emotionally powerful. Much luck, I can't wait to see more!

Thanks JKR and MattJ. I was debating with the hug as well. The reason I wanted the line before the hug is because I wanted him to look at his son in the eyes as he says it to make it more of a promise to the kid than to himself. I want to try the hug before though. It'll probably be either hug before or no hug with just shoulder hold.

Smokenttpbr: Thanks for looking! I would like to do a stronger gesture than the father lifting his head. I want to figure out a strong way to use the hands on shoulders so I can have very little movement in the last line.

Looks good! I think the body mechanics seem okay, the hands are still all over the place, but I guess you're still splining that. Where exactly are your problems?
I found that the shoulders seem to be hunched up fairly far, for this emotion I would probably have them drop further during his thought process, and in the first half his right hand is a bit indecisive. I personally like his endpose in the previous version better, in the newest, he doesn't seem to focus the boy's face but rather his chest.

And just a pointer, humans are born with a nearly fully grown head, so that the small scale head of the boy lets one think that he is actually standing somewhere far behind his father. What makes children look like children is the different relationship between head size, torso size and the lengths of their extremities.
