Not going to have much time this month
like the title says, I've just gotten a few projects to take care of and my final portfolio review at school is coming up next tuesday. that being said I haven't had much time to do anything for march's competition, But Yesterday I was in a productive mood so I sort of threw something together with march's audio (in about 14 hours >_<). If i can get it good enough I'll use it for my review, so just looking for some quick feedback
thanks in advance!

Very sinister... I like it!

if you don't have much time to work on this then why are you adding lights, models and textures. All of that time could have been spent making your animation better. I think you need to go back and spend more time making the animation stronger over all.

I tend to think along rico's thoughts, but I think in this case much of the story would not be understandable without the lighting, right?

pretty much yeah, I wanted this to be a fairly introspective piece. so the lighting plays a pretty pivitol role. now its just a matter of fixing up the timing and smoothing out the motions

Re: Not going to have much time this month
+strong ending
+good solid camera
(I'm thinking you could stretch the bar and try to even get tighter and maybe lower it and rotate it up a bit...
...for that more powerful, intimate, feel? what do you think?)
+your timing seems to be pretty decent
-when he hits the table; his hand motion needs to be a bit smaller, a bit quicker, and definitely more impact when he
makes contact. (OR... you could have him "raise his glass to the camera" instead of hitting the table at that section?)
-if you want to keep what he's doing AFTER drinking the shot; then you need to fix his hand/wrist/elbow pose before putting
down the shot glass; his hand/wrist/elbow look broken. (this is what I would have done: have him wipe his mouth
with his LF_Hand after drinking the shot. then when he puts the shot glass down and reacts to the liquor for a brief second.)
-watch his RT_Hand when going to grab for the knife; his hand passes in front of or close to his face; lower it a bit and have
his fingers stretch out as he goes to grab the knife.
-his LF_Hand, when going to turn out the candle, is broken; rotate it so it looks natural. (always try to mimic what your character
is doing; if it doesn't hurt or strain when mimicking his Hand Poses, then you're pretty close to have good "Hand Positions")
great progress.... keep going!
Cheers! ![]()

Re: Not going to have much time this month
thanks rice, i'm fixing up some of these as we speak, and I've been trying to fix the timing on the glass hitting the table for a while now, and every time i think its fixed i look at it the next day and I hate it again haha. I'm hesitant to do too much to the camera because I'm trying to keep the primary focal points following the rule of thirds but I'll mess around with it a bit see If i cant get it better ![]()
@Rico, its primarily animation, but people have failed it before due to bad aesthetics, so better safe than sorry you know?

Re: Not going to have much time this month
Wow, it looks really good. The lighting adds a lot to it. Something feels off when he extinguishes the camera however - maybe make the motion of his hand a little smoother, and get rid of that period between when he reaches up to the candle and when his fingers come together?

I like it, but the movement feels a little mechanical.
