Called a bathroom!!
Here is day two this is all in linear splines so no offsetting or smoothing things out yet, few ease in/outs I am thinking her setting will be either a cafeteria, airport or somthing of that sort to give reason to the ambient noise. For now I just have the props I need which is the door. Hope yal dig it!

Re: Called a bathroom!!
i think you can push more on the poses and gestures, maybe not to wide in shoulder and arm, and don't let me know that you're using IK, watch the arch, but still this is good work.. keep it up

careful with your color choices dude, the character is literally being eaten by the background because the back just fades into itself

Re: Called a bathroom!!
Yea its just the playblast the render will have more pop! I am still working on animation but I literrally animated for 16 hours straight yesterday so my way of forcing me to take a break is to click the render button and walk away! Plus it works as a check pass render that allows me to see how things work in the light.

You work REALLY fast, it's amazing. I still quite don't get the last action..when she climbs the door and it opens.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
Thanks for the comments! Like I said I know the playblast looked dark, but with lighting things have more pop! The idea is simple she is basically on a job interview and has to pee, I was gonna have her at an airport, but Since I am out of a job right now, a job interview connected with me more, to sell it more I may have a breifcase prop next to her or something of that sort. I am not sure I work that fast fisher_d,Like I said I am currently unemployed and living at my sisters apartment, with no car and no money lol so I have basically just been working on this clip for 4 days straight at about 16 hours a day on it LOL so it might appear that I worked fast, but I really just have not slept LOL, I figure the more content ( good content I hope) that I can get done, the better of a demo reel I can put together. Anyway sorry for going on and on. here is a render I let go last night while I slept.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
oh one more thing, for the door opening I just thought it was a fun gag that she is pulling the door but it actually opens in the opposite direction. To sell the idea more I might have a man come out looking startled! Possibly because the room she entered is not actually a bathroom at all, lol but she is turning it into one, which is why maybe the guy hurry's his buttt outta there. But those are just subtext ideas that wont actually be shown in the animation.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
i like that idea, to show her confusion she goes into the mens room or something, haha. this is great animation, i love the subtle gestures and how organic the facial features look. mine is looking a bit stiff, after seeing this ive got some work to do!

Re: Called a bathroom!!
Yeah, this is very good so far! Here some things i would change:
1. When she's thinking about the word on second 2, i would let her blink with the eyes a few times. You don't usually close your eyes while thinking, unless you are very concentrated. What you usually do is watching away, collecting your ideas and blinking a few times.
2. The run towards the toilet door is a little bit too boring for me and too unnatural. There is a lot of similar up and down movement and there is no variation as well. For me, thats the worst part in your animation. The acting part is just great ![]()
and 3. I would change the poses around second 11 when she arrived at the door. I think she wants to have the attention back again but her body doesn't express that. Just make her grabbing for attention a bit more.
But as i said, the acting part is very good and smooth.
Keep at it!

Re: Called a bathroom!!
This some excellent stuff and I feel kind of useless just looking at it... ANYWAY, some thoughts!
1. Her 'need a pee' dance, while funny is REALLY masculine. Like, she seems to be holding... erm. Yeah. Awkward. If you go with the briefcase prop just maybe have her holding it in front of herself, like subconsciously protective.
2. The camera move is a bit off putting, I can't really articulate why, but it seems rather artificial. Perhaps if she didn't take such giant strides (which if you really needed to pee, you wouldn't) she wouldn't go so far, so you wouldn't need to follow with the camera.
3: You're trying hard to make the riding the door gag work, but it's sort of cartoony and is a grinding gear change from the more emotive stuff. Like, she starts out believable, but the idea that someone would get on a door and pull at the handle just... isn't, unless you're yogi bear. You could have her lose a tug of war with whoever's opening it from the other side, but she lets go when she realises she's pulling the wrong way and stagger back a bit from the force of it. Less funny, but'd make for some nice animation! To finish you could have her urgently squeeze past whoever is coming out.
So that's a lot of changes right? But hey, it's only the 5th!

Wow. This is looking really nice sofar. The door opening the other way is very funny. I wish I had something to add, but everyone has already made some good points.
Don't playblast, instead play from the UI in real time.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
Yea thats def a lot to change richard, not sure if I will go that far, the interesting thing is that there are 101 ways and then some to act out a scence and perform it, Jim carrey would do this scene completly different from Robert DeNiro, and maybe my performance wont be the best or even the winner, what it is my take on the audio. This was one of the first times I actually sat down took the audio wrote it down and actually drew out exactly what I wanted to do, and for the most part its worked out pretty well, def was good to know where I was going once I got into maya and started working. I think at the stage I am at now I am prob going to just try and polish the shot as much as I can and keep the door gag, when I first drew this out in my mind she was like a Lucile Ball type of character, so I could picture her doing it, in fact I could be wrong but in one of the many many I love Lucy episodes she might have done something similar. IN the end my main goal is to complete my vision, hopefully people will like it.
I think the cam move might need to start sooner that might be where some of the weird feeling is coming from.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
You don't have to defend it, and I feel sort of bad now! I'm just trying to give honest feedback, and it may come over too negative because if I wrote down all the stuff I like I'd be here all day and it wouldn't help anybody. You must do what you think is right, of course.
Just out of interest, which of us is Robert De Niro in that analogy? I hope it's me!

I like A LOT your acting and animation hahahah! I laughed a lot here at the "HUMMMM" speak (thinking), and when she runs and opens the door with her whole body hahahahahahaha
Congratulations, and in my opinion, it´s a very Top 10 and why not, a Winner animation!!!!

Re: Called a bathroom!!
the problem with the audio clip is that u cant do a camera cut closer at the end cuz she is being heard from a distance, so to break up the run to the bathroom i would have her stumble or juke around a man standing behind her reading a newspaper, have him look up startled and wondering why she is in such a rush and almost bowled him over. then, have another man come out of the bathroom like he was opening the door and have him look back surprised. i think the rig of the mustached man that looks like a typical office boss everybody seems to be using would do the trick. it would make it so u can just focus on refining without changing up acting too much.

Re: Called a bathroom!!
Wow. It is the fifth of Feb. right? I didn't slide into a time vortex and see something three weeks later? :-P
This is fantastic, I have one note to add, and I think you should definitely use it. On the snap have the hand jut forward and out in a really nice arc. It's almost impossible to animate a snap, so you need the pantomime to sell the idea of the snap. I look forward to progress on this, and I don't think it's hasty to say you've earned a top ten spot. Are you working in the industry out of curiosity?
