Workstations

I thought it was cool seeing other peoples workstations a little back and thought it would be cool to go for another round to see what people are up to as far as their surroundings.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37978995/Workstation_NateLane.jpg

Mine isn't at all impressive... then again how impressive can it be when at school. Something that I think I have advantage with is that I have a window right there to my side. This allows me to give my eyes a little break as I look at things that are further away (usually not good for your eyes to be closely focused for hours on end, or so they say). Also I usually try and web browse with my little pen tablet for my wrist's sake, it helps a lot!

So go ahead and post your workstations! What do you like or find helpful with how you are set up?

Re: Workstations

Hah! You have a Mac keyboard on a Windows machine. Irony big_smile

I'd have to clean my desk before braving a picture of it on the internet. Suffice it to say it's pretty modest as far as "decorations".

I literally cannot work with only one monitor now, even if it was a big monitor, like 24"+.

Oh, and I didn't clean anything.  That is how my desk always looks.

Curiously I took a picture of my new, rather makeshift, standing setup only the other day -

Photo also includes my boyfriend's Cintiq (which I never use, haters gonna hate), some mafia bosses looking down at you, and our little pet (look away children!).

No way, the 'creative mess' that has developed since I took that picture is pretty impressive and/or worrying.

Re: Workstations

Haha martyn, I had trouble finding your workstation at first big_smile but it looks cool and just the way one should setup their workplace in the first place big_smile
And Threedsnack, if had my keyboard connected to my computer that way, it would fall down at least 20 times a day big_smile
I'll post mine as soon as I get home again (which might not happen before tomorrow evening)

Ha cheers guy. I started to get shooting pains and numbness in my fingers/wrists, decided it was time to do something about. My posture and the table height were combine to kick my bodies arse, this was the best I could manage without spending any money.

Yea I remember a friend of mine had to do something similar, only I think the point he deiced to do something against the pain was considerably later so he couldn't sit down at all anymore. But he wasn't as inventive with his keyboard big_smile How do you get it to stay stuck in that hole in the box? does it support you hand weight?

heh... well actually that's no corner desk. That's underneath of the bed that came with the apartment (1 man bunk bed! wooo!). Makes me think of the good old days *sigh*.

Martyn. Love the homemade keyboard box lol

Re: Workstations

I don't have an overview picture of the whole space, but here are some aspects.

My (homemade) light table:

The shelf next to my computer:

(If anyone wants to know what the numbers are, you can find the key in this post from http://www.fredthemonkey.com/blog/?p=333822 )

On my desk itself is a mess of paper and my Cintiq.

Re: Workstations

This is a great thread. Awesome to see everyone set up. Panda I love the captain hook character you have and toys.... come on no animator can have too many toys on their desk, I need more! Well here is my setup, this is a desk I actually custom made a few months ago and the bottom screen is on an arm but I only move it to draw on the screen... yes I put a custom sheet of glass and stuck it to my monitor so I can use dry erase markers on it for notes and drawing on it for arcs and such, most useful tool in my workflow (thanks to my instructor Mike Walling). Oh and I only use a tablet (you can barely see it). I have a mouse on there for when my wife needs to use the computer, haha! and yes my desk is dirty haha
