Re: sticking to the basics!!!

looks nice for the spacing and timing, maybe space the landing places a bit more.
You could roll the ball a bit also.
The first squash is too big I think, and the axes of the ball should go a bit towards where he's jumping.

Re: sticking to the basics!!!

Hey Arien, I think he's trying to tell you to move the ball farther to the right on the bounces. Right now, it moves about an inch to the right while it bounces, but all of the rest of the space to the right of it is unused.

Also, right now the ball squashes and stretches straight up and down. That's not as good as stretching it diagonally, along the arc of its motion.

EXAMPLE: http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/01b/bball.shtml

Hope that helps a bit!

Re: sticking to the basics!!!

Thanks Mythsnlore (stuff how are you supposed to pronounce that tongue ), that resumes what I was saying.

Basically, if you want to keep the stretch and squash vertical (strait up and down), it will have to bounce on the same spot (not move left or right). That's fine, but then you should reposition your camera so the ball is in the center (because with this position, we expect the ball to make a long leap).

Think of the ball as a human character. If it's going to jump towards a direction, it'll lean in the movement.

Re: sticking to the basics!!!

hey fellows.. hii.. since my frends liked it.. n i did get any further crits.. i moved on to an obstacle course...
here's what i did..

Direct Link

and here is the AVI:: http://www.vimeo.com/download/video:602 … 2af943e48b

started the obstacle animation a a few days back.. learnt a lot from the exercise.. got great crits from frendz.. learnt about adding weight n more importantly keeping the weight constant throughout the scene.. took some time to finish the animation..
its looks decent now.. i would love if someone would just rip it apart with crits and suggestions.. let me know what u think about it..

i also started another ball animation.. night before yesterday.. went straigh ahead on it.. n found that the timing is way off.. so hopefully i got that fixed at the moment.. as usual got great crits from friends..who cleared quite a few doubts.. worked on keeping the weight constant..lemme know what u think about the idea that i tried to portray and the animation..
cheers

here's the other one
