Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
@thelittlepenguin84 heyyy!!!!! lil penquin!! thank you very much!!!
yesh! It is meerkat!! I was struggling with the difference in proportions and the movements looking alike many other animals.. haha.. >_<;; The reason why I chose this animal is the upright pose.. they look very attentive..
I'm glad~ thank you penguin!! atleast its recognisable by the bits.. hehe...
Here is my reference...
Kinda mix the very last part with running..
This video reference, I found it on Arkive...>> http://www.arkive.org/ << So cool!! The videos are downloadable and you can choose either avi or QT.

Meerkat! Thats my guess lol
Something that can stand on two legs so could be even a squirrel, chipmunk, or prairie dog.
By the way, how long do these go for? I wander if I shoud try some of these mini challenges because I find I need more practice and wander if there would be a good one for weight? For example, a guy lifting some big heavy weight.
Good luck to those that are doing this mini challenge. ![]()

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hi guys, more updates.. i tended to focus more in the body mechanics
maybe i'll try some facial stuff later.. is it working ? Any thoughts ?
@Kai Hii Kai you did very funny scene, my guess was also a meerkat ahhaa
You did not fail, just need to fix a few things here and there..
I tried to implement the tips you gave me with a few more ones that came into my head..
Where do i use the breathing for excitement ? when he goes up and look side to side ?
Anyway, thank you again !

Hey Merj!! you are welcome!! Spread the words.. Its a cool webby..
not for commercial usage though.. purely educational. ![]()
@esquilogp thanks man!!
I mean adding the breathing and panting with excitement around frame 36 to frame 90.. I feel that .. this lil puppy is excited he race to the bright little ball.. then he look around for approval.. nobody disapprove his action... so he bite it.. and .. be really happy about it.. and then the itch and the scratch and the ball slips and he chase after it... << this is a cool idea
.. I think for frame 36 to 90.. just try to keep him busy .. dun hold him too steady.. being too steady give a scheming feeling.. haha .. .. I think.. keeping it light and energetic will sell really well ..
For the last part when the ball slip... Now it sort of feels like the pup is throwing the ball and run along with it.. as the ball flows together with the body action. I think it will be interesting to have.. Ball flies.. EXCITED (new game) And the chase.
Your body mechanic is great!! I think for acting wise.. just have to determine what kind of dog .. excited happy lil puppy?<< this is what I have in mind.. or a timid dog or a proud dog.. Play with the timing more. excited pup probably do a lot of actions.. figet a lot.. cannot be still.... always taking in air for more excitements.. oh ya.. frame 13 to 17 probably... can lower the body.. anticipate for the jump.. now frame 17 to frame 20 *pelvis seems like moving on a straight line*. try make a lower pose for 13-14? so that 15-20 push up..
heee.. hopefully can add more weight for the action.
I dun think I can update MC15 anymore.. Want to give the sept competition a try.. hehe.. well. .hopefully.. =p
cheers

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hi guys, this is my final entry for MC 15.
I gave the last pose some slow in and removed the snap-into-pace, eased in the head and added light, render and a story tag to it. I love back-story. i try to put into even the smallest of places. Thanks for all the help everyone, i think am moving on to my next shot, now. want to do some tailor/flying fox shots to practice timing, spacing, arcs and overlap. (and duh! come up with more stories

Outstanding!

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hey, Blackbird. I REALLY like the froggy turn he does after the first jump. The part that doesn't look right to me is the position of his hands during the fall of his second jump. They are very rigid, splayed out, and give us a weird silhouette that sticks out, especially around frame 113-117ish. This might just be me, but I would loosen those fingers up a bit and bend them back on the way down. And maybe bring the hands in towards his center a little?
Also, you have a little spacing issue on the second landing, frame 117-120, he's slowing down before he makes contact.
That's my two cents. I really like your piece and I think you've made a lot of progress since the first blocking. Overall I'd say really good job.

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Thanks guys. Nielson, i agree with you. Each time i watch that second jump, i flinch a bit. It hurts me most that it's the last thing in the shot so it sticks. Am happy that you think I've made progress along this shot. it's felt like boot camp to me. Hopefully as I get better, it will become easier for me to incorporate what i've already learned, get faster, smoother and not repeat past mistakes.

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hey odoada,
Looking at your piece, there are some awesome poses in here. Really nices poses.
My main issue with the clip though is the arcs and flow of the animation. Of particular note, watch his back foot when he first picks it up. It follows no clear arc. The rest of the animation, I am wondering how your splines look in the graph editor. It judders a lot. I know you probably didnt expect to hear this response, but am saying it in order to try to help.
You have another day so if you have the experience to clean it up please do. If not, don't be afraid to ask for help. Its not all bad because you look to have some really nice ideas.

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hi Oda!! I like the pose and the weight!!
Tweak the jittering frames.. look for extra keys and go edit the curves!! The main key poses are working now.. look for jagg inbetweens..
this is nice!! like how he focus on something and.... keep his focus while he moves... hips up and chest go down.. head stay focus. Well done!! ![]()
Cheeers!!

Re: Mc 15: Animal antics
Hi Everyone,
I hope I'm not late to enter the challenge. I was unsure if it ran until today or it ran till Sunday... I had a good time animatiing on this challenge. This was my first time finally submitting to an 11 second challenge. I worked on this piece for about 16 hours, since I am currently in crunch time at work.
