How can I make this shot more appealing?

Just a little thing I blocked out a while ago that I haven't touched since because I wasn't really feeling it. I want to make the hit impact feel comical in a slapstick way, not the somewhat violent and bland way it's working now. Anyone got suggestions for ways to achieve that? And should I put the focus on the boy's fall or the frisbee spinning or could I alternatively get away with doing both in succession?

My main note to self is that the build-up needs to be longer, but other than that I'm unsure of how to proceed.

You have a ton of potential to really ham it up before the kid falls, you could have him spin and fall dramatically.  You could have something that isn't expected to happen....happen.  Right now, what you have happening is expected, and even before it happens, we almost know it's going to happen.  You really have endless options here, I think perhaps you should sit down and thumb out some ideas for the kids reaction.  I kind of like what you have going on with the older guy.

I have a couple of ideas. Maybe don't have the camera dead side on. Make it a bit more dynamic by having the characters at different depths within the shot. I think the main reason it does not feel funny or like an accident is the boy looks afraid at the start, not like hes playing Frisbee with his dad. Perhaps if there was some excited anticipation on the part of the boy that would help (you have already said you want a bigger build up so maybe that's where you were thinking) Think Buzz Lightyear playing catch with Zurg. I actually like what you have going on with the dad's reaction. Thats what's funny at the moment. You could make more of that and push it into a super cartoony reaction and walk off. You already have a great base. Good Luck.
