This is a work-in-progress playblast video of the skateboard scene.  I'm using the Mr. Buttons rig for the character animation.

Its starts where Mr. Buttons looking for a place to eat until he discovers a huge sign saying, "Pizza Place" mounted on the building. As Mr. Buttons starts skateboarding towards the building, he ends up performing the following tricks: Salad Grind, Nollie, back side 180, Alley Oop Frontside Air, Christ Air back flip and firecracker. As soon as he walk towards the "Pizza Place", he noticed the closed sign taped on the door.

Can someone leave comments about this playblast video, please?

Re: Can someone critique this playblast, please?

Hi, You have chosen a very difficult subject here and a very long piece, so well done for the challenge! I am going to pick a few things that stood out for me. The first thing is his neck seems like it has a big kink in it, especially in the first shot. I am unfamiliar with this rig so not sure if its meant to be like that, but it's not very appealing and feels a little off model. The 2nd thing is i think your timing is a little bit off in places. Mostly i think it is a little bit slow, but in some places it feels a little slow then on the landing it feels a little fast or visa versa. Did you have some reference for this? Lastly i think your poses could be a bit stronger, in an action shot they need to be really clear. On most of the landings you need a bit more reaction/follow through when making contact with the ground. I think if you can nail the timing and push/ make stronger some of your poses you will be almost there.

Hi Northybaby

I do have reference for this and I've created an animation thumbnail sketch for this piece. Due to the way they rig this character, I probably need to make some adjustments on each poses so it will read better.  I was considering changing the christ air back trick in shot 6 but, I'll post another play blast video after I make some adjustments. Thank for your comments.

Re: Can someone critique this playblast, please?

This is the new update on the work-in-progress play blast video. I've made some changes some of the shots especially on shot 1 and shot 8.  Currently I'm working on the secondary action of the tail on all shots and foot movements in shot 6.  I've made some adjustments on some poses, especially on shot 6 where Mr. Buttons does the Christ Air Back Flip.  I've also worked on the timing of the skateboard in shot 5.  In shot 3, I add in Mr. Buttons cracking his knuckles before his drop-in-on the halfpipe.
