looking for info about making and submiting a 2d animation film

hey guys, im new around here and was just wondering how people did their 2 d animation, at my school we have animation desks with peg bars and whole punches for paper, aswell as monkeyjam to shoot it all... howeever i wanted to get in on this over the summer when those things werent available- should i just use photoshop? if anyone could really explain the process that would be more then helpful and greatly appreciated.

Ultimately, though, it comes down to how you prefer to work.

Animation desks are quite expensive, so what I bought instead is the following:

And I affixed an acme pegbar to the Huion lightpad with the plastic surgery glue--worked GREAT.  I ended up getting two sizes of the Huion and I also have a pegbar glued to an Alvin Cutting mat:

The small Huion is good for 10f paper, the large one could handle 16f just barely.

I also picked up a Mustek A3 1200s, which is the cheapest A3 scanner you can buy, and it has a little spot where I've affixed a pegbar for cleaner scanning.
