Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Hey man its looking good and I think you are in a great place for the deadline. some of the things that I thinki could use some work...

- Watch the weight of the bottle when she grabs it out of the guys hand it feels kind of light.
-I think in the beginning you could tone down her animation a lot she does a lot of moving her upper torso and head up and down. So maybe try and tone that down.
- This might just be my preference but I am not that big of a fan of when she first reaches for the bottle and then snaps beck to the really compressed pose. I would n't take her so far back. maybe a pose somewhere inbetween. Right now it feels like she just snaps back to same pose.

Good luck!

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

its hard to tell with no background...but it feels like when she stands up, the camera is leading the action/its moving first. You want to have her lead the movement, so she starts to stand then the camera has to catch up

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Yea your absolutely right! I didnt notice that because I had changed my composition of my camera cut, I then had a drift that I liked that kept the framing of how my first original cut ended on, I liked the framing at the end so I kept it, problem was that on the cut it starts moving before she does, so thats my bad, kinda glad I did this playblast with just her, so that it stood out more, so now I can fix it. I will have another update soon. I also reworked how she sits down, right now in this version everything is coming down at the same time, I had a friend peep it and call me out on that, so now its broken up where the feet go and hit there mark and the hips and arms follow, which feels a tad more natural to me, that will be on my next update as well.

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Hello, very good work! : )

I really loved the idea of that transition from despair to anger and then back to hesitation in your previous playblast when she grabbed the bottle.
Too snappy of course, but in my opinion, that was refreshing and believable change in the acting.

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Thanks Sevlom!!

Inuxela, thanks yea it was def too snappy, I am liking how the timing is on my current one feels more natural, but I def want to push that despair to anger then hesitation, so right now its all about finding a good balance.

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

It looks really good so far. The one thing that bothers me is the composition of the last shot when she says "haven't I?". There just seems to be too much empty space on screen, maybe framing her a bit closer would give more of an intense feeling of emotion, I just feel a little disconnected from her at the end.

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

The standing up at the end is not really working for me...its currently much more fast/snappy that what you have previously. Also, isn't she is the back of a moving truck? I doubt she would stand up. I would have her grab it sitting down and then put it to her lips, contemplating taking a drink

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Thanks woopsedoo! I may have a solution for by the time she gets to havent I, I was going to try trucking in the cam slowly after the cut so by the end of the shot she is closer to frame, I will see how that looks.

KyleG I have been reworking and playing with the timing of how she gets up in the truck, trying to get something that felt natural and I think in this latest update I am about to post its feeling better, rather then a pause when she slightly gets up I tried to make it one natural move to grab the bottle and then get her seat down.
Thanks to all again for the feed back!

Update:

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Dude it is really starting to look good!
the new cam is working a lot better and I am really starting to feel more of a connection with the character.

So I would now start going in and polishing up the lip sync getting some of those special shapes to really work nicely like the M's and B's and things like that. Some of those are feeling kind of mushy.
-Also the blink stick in some places and hit hard
- There are a few places where the head pops or hits hard

Looking good though

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

update: I am pretty happy with most of the timing now, so from here on I am going to go through and polish lip sync areas where the animation hits walls and more animation on the dude in the truck, hopefully it will all come together nicely by the competition!

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

the mouth at the end of the animation sorta feels like to goes to a default pose, I would keep it in a more concerned pose, maybe slightly open with the corners a bit more down

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Thanks again for all the feedback and comments, it really does help to get all the diff perspectives, I went out last night to drink, ugh I am feeling it today hahhahah, but since I did that I let this animation render, mainly to see if any things were standing out more to me, and just to see how it would look, I still have a few things I wanna do with my remaining time animation wise, but here is yet another update! LOL

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

Nice this is a great piece. What i thought you could improve on was the hair movement. When she bends down into the truck, the front of the truck would restrict the wind hitting her hair so much and would be less affected by it. Only my thoughts but could be nice when polishing smile

Re: Alcoholic in a zombie world

i think this piece is great. the only thing that keeps it from being even better is the eyes. i don't feel a connection with the character. The pupils seem a bit dead at times, and maybe opening the eyes up here and there could help. i think the hair is fine.
