The show must go on - August 2012
A father reassuring his son that how bold he was at his age and how he overcame his fear of stage fright.
This is the plot and framing of the scene im gonna be working on ... tomorrow gonna shoot reference and start the actual blocking of it.
Do tell me your point of view as well

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Heya! There are several things you might want to take into consideration here:
First off, the fact that the little guy has adult proportions makes one constantly think he is far away, so its essential to adjust his proportions to child like this early on in the production.
Also, I would rather have a slight downshot on your second camera, and an upshot on your last, to keep the heads on more or less the same level. The old guy isn't dominating the child, he's giving advice.
The very different backgrounds have the potential to confuse your viewers, at least at the moment, so you might want to find a way around that.
These are just some suggestions from me, so don't feel compelled to follow them

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Thanks Wolfor Sure will do that. Ya have to change the kids proportion... as far the set goes its a back stage set up... any way you think something will work around ?? maybe some darker picture may change the mood right ??
Im new to came terminologies .... downshot and upshot ??? is it i push the camera down and up at an angle ??

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Sorry A downshot is from a high(er) altitude angled downward, an upshot is the opposite.
Here is a great handout on staging, and you can find lots more on that subject on this blog

Wolfor i read the article and it was amazing ... thanks a lot
But don't u thing if i put a down shot on the second cam would make the character a bit inferior... cause he says "It's fai to say i have lived my dream...."

First off, I'm diggin the layout you've created and the staging. However, since it is only an 11 second audio, I feel that there is too many camera cuts. Personally, I think you can get away with just the initial camera. You could also move the camera over the shoulder of the boy so that we'd get that over the shoulder shot. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the contest.

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
jeez he looks like a psychopath in the last shot "I will rape you on stage..." LOL Try to make faces conveying the thoughts more clear and why the boy is looking down?

I agree with Icontak, you might want to cut one of the cuts. Good start otherwise, though! Keep at it.

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
I think the second shot's camera needs some work. Personally, I would like to see better framing of the boy in the background. As of right now he is practically hidden by the main character, creating a weird shape. Even if you have to cheat it, I think it would benefit the shot greatly if we saw both characters clearly. I would push the boy screen left so he is standing over the balls against the wall. But other then that, awesome work!

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
-Yeah I would shift the position of the boy screen left during the second camera shot.
-I know it's only blocking and you'll probably address this later, but watch the angle of the left hand on the left leg as he stands up. Right now it looks a little awkward.
- I think the first 3 poses of the left arm/hand will give you some issues when you come to breakdowns and spline. There might be too many poses. The audio is slow so you don't want too many quick movements. I would maybe start with the left hand NOT on the boys shoulder.
- Again this is something you will probably notice when you start to break it down more, but I think you'll need more time for the anticipation and the pose at "I owned the stage". You may need to play with the timing there.
Cool stuff onetwo, keep it going and good luck!

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Wellings : Thanks a lot bro ..... will have a look into the left arm and the poses are taken from my own reference video so im kind of animating from it bro and the left arm is completely gonna be on a different time track infact it would start to fall down slowly from the start .... i already have a problem of the IK to FK switching on the left arm bro and its worse .... kinda of having a nightmare
And for the I own the stage part the hand would kind of drop when he says stage ...
Will post an update on the next wip with all the possible updates mentioned

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Cool. You don't always know how things will work until you start to break it down. Video reference is awesome, but it can also be misleading. I always shoot reference now, but my timing and spacing never resembles my reference, I mostly use it for poses. It's not like your arm is flailing all over the place in 4 frames, so I'm sure you'll be fine. I've heard a few other people mention having issues with IK to FK switching, personally I've never switched back and forth in my life lol. I've worked in IK for everything, even the assignment I'm doing now which includes a run cycle. For a shot like this I wouldn't think you'd need FK, what made you swtich?

Re: The show must go on - August 2012
Shots 1 & 3 are looking good
I think the posing for "lived my dream" could be improved. Right now he's standing with his body facing perfectly forward and his arm seems to move straight up, pause at his chest, and move straight down again. Maybe see what you can do about creating a more interesting silhouette there? It's possible that you don't even need the arm gesture at that point. He could just look into the space ahead of him, like he's lost in his memories of a once great past. At the moment you have him talking with his hands a lot so it could be a nice chance to break that up.
Nice stuff though I can see improvements from past work!
