11 Second Club Update for Video

Hello all,

We've been working hard to improve the 11 Second Club video experience.  Here's what we have with today's update:

1) New Click to Play mechanism which should be more compatible with Linux and mplayer.

2) New entries will be encoded using MPEG-4 instead of H.264.  Until H.264 is more prevalent, we will use the less intensive MPEG-4.

3) New entries will have an automatic frame counter.  Currently this only works in Firefox on Windows and Mac, and Safari.  I'll be working on getting this working in Windows IE, but there's no ETA for it yet.  Basically, we add a frame counter external to the movie that you can control.  This is great as it does not require you to put a frame counter on your animation, and it lets you critique more easily as you can enter what frame number you want to jump to.  This feature will only appear if your browser supports it, so if your browser does not, you won't see the frame counter.  I enabled this feature on Eileen's winning entry from the June competition: http://www.11secondclub.com/show/winner/june07

There's more coming, but we wanted to get this update out before anyone entered the July competition.  Post in this thread if you have any issues with these new features.

Also, if the movies do not load for you, please try refreshing first as there may be a caching issue.  Thanks, and good luck to you all!
