Mc 22: YOU make it feel like Christmas!!

Hello guys and gals,
This is the last mini-challenge of the year, starting back up on 2nd January. It's titled ''YOU make it feel like Christmas!''.

So, what should be expected? Well, thats down to you! It could be animating a somebody opening a present or it could be a toy soldier. It could be a snowman, father christmas or even an elf, like in this great animation by Daniel Asher Harman.

There's also the opportunity to do something Tim Burton-ish and do a spooky Xmasy clip, inspired by Nightmare Before Christmas.

Another great festive delight is that of Jacob Marley, whose spirit is captured beautifully in the below screenshot used in Flooby Nooby's  ''Line of Action'' tutorial.

Also, remember you don't have to use a full rig. It could be a festive pendulum or ball bounce.You could even use a short piece of dialogue. Everyone's christmas is different so its really up to you!

As always frame rate should be 24fps, and animation length should be about 100-125f. Deadline is 19th December. Remember to keep the animations family friendly and please check the ''How to Participate'' section for more notes on submission requirements.

Enjoy!

Productive!

Re: Mc 22: YOU make it feel like Christmas!!

Wow, great job Ohjin!

The staging and expressions are terrific. I like the idea of the loopy arc as he comes forward, but I dunno, it seems a little forced/distracting. Maybe if that was toned down a bit? Anyway, very very nicely done.

Re: Mc 22: YOU make it feel like Christmas!!

@sureshpadmaraj.

Great idea and nicely executed. I like the idea of him the box going to check up on him before being dived upon. The render is very christmasy too.  I also appreciate the time you must have spent to get the finger to pose together when he claps his hands together. Great work!

However, a few pointers:
i) I am not sure if you shot reference for this. Either way, perhaps spend longer looking at your footage and planning the animation. The box of course has a mind of its own... but for the rig, you could perhaps break each stage up and edit them together using a software such as premier. This will mean you can shoot different ref for ''slamming the hands down on the table'', ''catching the box'', ''the fed up look''.

ii) take note of your root and spine. As he comes up from the table he looks off balance. Also think about the eye direction. On frame 174, he is looking more left-of-screen than he should be.

iii) think about using the shoulders more. Especially as he pushes himself up on f34

@Ohjin
great work. I see you are a fan of big arcs and poses, which really works well for the style of this clip. Its big, its loud, its cheesy and ultimately christmasy!! As JKR said, for future work, just heed notice with how much you use the arcs.

In the face, everything also looks very twinned. Again, just something to think about for future productions. Good luck in the main contest!
