Rich Lauzon:

IN terms of the setup... this one is up there. Interesting mix of characters. And good punchline.

shamyl:

love the way you animated the bird! i like the annoying & confident way he snatched the letter

Taber Dunipace:

I'm REALLY distracted by the feathers on that bird. They make viewing the character's action much more difficult and disrupt its sillouette. Nice acting choices and interactions and the cartooniness is supported by the figures, but this seems like it needs more work.

Jett Atwood:

It's interesting but the bird is so hard to watch because he's *constantly* moving.

Steve Sloan:

wow crazy characters, good take on the sound track too. it makes sence.

Erik Griott:

interesting, good movement.

Yeray Díaz Díaz:

Nice job. A little too much movement for such a big bird for my taste, and the big guy sould use some feet movement.

C. J. Cow:

i love the character design of both characters great stuff! between frame 211 and 212 i think i see a weird flipping on the muscular dude's left arm... thats all. and i love the fire! boy that looks gorgeous!

gerardo:

nice characters!

Marcos Borba Moreira:

loved the timing! :)

Virgil Mihailescu:

hahahahahaha, finally, someone does it normally! I've seen a bunch of twists on the theme up to this point... almost all of them worked until the 'all done' at the end. where they didn't make any sense anymore. about the animation, it's very nice, but there are some pops here and there (the yellow guy in the beginning, the bird walking). about the tail - it's simulated, right?

Missy Feaster:

Nicely animated, but perhaps a little overanimated once the bird faces the camera. Maybe limit the motions when using such detailed characters?

Traci Plagmann:

Really nice arcs and movement on the bird. The gesture he does on "Wait!" is great. Some of the secondary movement on him gets a little distracting though.

Matt:

nice fire

ed:

you did good dave

Q. Watts:

It's just so beautiful!! (Sobs!)

Salvador García Luque:

excellent models, pretty different idea

Justin Weg:

cool bird!

Damodar V Sawant:

wow ! I like the animation of bird very much ....very neat, but little too much of movements.liked the effects too

Christopher Lutz:

Nice animation with nice secondary movements!

Aaron Clement:

Wow, nice bird. I like the burning of it at the end. The big guy seems to move a tad too much...

Gordana:

I think if you chose to use two birds for this piece - I really like the rig :) - or two different animals, the overall performance would've been stronger in a way, because they would have felt like belonging to the same world. Right now I'm left wondering too much on what is the relationship of the two characters and what business the two of them have together (they are such a bizarre couple!) and this distract me from the letter ordeal. That said, I like the strong personality of the bird. The broad wing gestures work well overall and make him funny and definitely the star of the shot. On "consider" a more subtle gesture may work better though ..

The background macho character is bit too distracting. He moves a lot overall. His upper torso is drifting too much, the body weight shifts don't transfer all the way to the feet, which are planted throughout the shot. Some of his reactions are a bit overacted, especially in the ending. Make them smaller and they will flow better with the bird performance..

Jeranimo:

haha! Very different. Though the secondary character (the big guy) is a bit over animated. Good job with the bird. He's funny!

Ryan Glovka:

Pretty floaty, but a good start. The bird has an entertaining way about him!

Bilal Ahmad:

nicely executed animation

Juliano Bezerra:

Very difficulty animation and very good!

Hector Lopez:

Looks good. It just feels like there's too much movement with the bird. Makes it a bit too distracting.

Zach:

Very creative use for the sound most people picked to use a knive or scissor but you chose a lighter... very ethical indeed

Gregory Marlow:

Nice. Think about your staging a bit more though.

Roshan.k:

too many things moving around here and there ..distracting eyes.. the idea of using different kinda characters is cool..but there's graph clean up problems seen on the body movements..

Christiaan Moleman:

I think you're moving the bird around a little too much maybe. Keeping the character alive is important but when there's never a moment of rest it becomes very hard to look at.

Don't keep the big guy's feet locked to the ground so much. Have him do some mini steps as he shifts his weight.

Eric Scheur:

Ha! A phoenix! I love it! :)

I really like the timing you have on the phoenix character--there's some really great cartoony poses that read really well. But I also think that there is a lot of other movement that kind of distracts from the animation and the acting. The phoenix feels very busy all over the place--I'm sure that a lot of that is because of the feathers, but it also feels like the arms could be a little less wavy throughout the scene.

The character in the back feels a little drifty and weightless, and his poses are much more generic and twinned. Try to find ways of offsetting the body (contrast the angles of the shoulders and the hips, for example), and overlap shoulders and arms and muscles where you can... a character with this much mass will take a lot of effort to move himself around, and a lot of his body will react to gravity even after he's stopped moving.

On the whole, this is an entertaining piece, and I look forward to seeing your next entry!

Cheers!

Victor Wong:

Some overmovement, but the storytelling works well, and there's quite a bit of effort in getting the bird's feathers to move and flow. Volume needs to be watched a bit.

Olivier Ladeuix:

a bit too broad for my liking but not too bad. There is also some sort of disconnection between the animation of the feathers from the wings and the tail. one is hand keyed and the other one seem to be animated with Dynamic simulation and keeps moving around which is a bit "disturbing"

The designs of the characters is also a bit complicated and the shapes and colours overlap a lot so try to keep the 2 character well apart to get a clearer silhouette

Mike Courtney:

Both characters pop. The feathers intersect the legs. The lip-sync isn't quite there yet.

Max Herzfeld:

Great expressions, nice twist to, and fire wow.
The only thing is that the animation seems loose and rushed.
All in all great work.

Adriel Restrepo:

Great work! I really like the bird animation. The big guy might be popping too much. It looks good with the bird but I think the big guy might be slower. It like the reaction to the burning though and the way the bird just flings it off. It really fits well with the "All done" part.
