Jason Smith:

Great set, great style, great animation, great lighting... My 11 for the month!! It reminds a little of the Animation Show dudes... Awesome job!

gerardo:

nice smooth movements.
I like she much, her glasses move realistic!

Lauren Andersson:

very cute!

Hernán Bruna:

Great! very funny, simple and direct, and the ambient it's amazing :P good job

Jeff Kim:

I LOVED it until the very end: I wish the blue box's take was more subdued. Great job!

Mike York:

I love this one! Very unique characters and staging going on here.

Aja Bogdanoff:

Beautiful render! Looks very cute. :)

On the performances, the blue guy jumps the gun on a couple of his reactions: first, when his face falls, he's reacting to her displeasure at the same exact time she expresses it, so it makes his reaction feel less authentic, in addition to taking our attention away from her face when she should be the focus. If he held his hopeful smile until she was done talking, I think the acting there would read a lot stronger. I'd say the same thing for his surprised look at the end, it's very cute, but it happens a good 10 frames before he'd really have had time to hear what she said, so it makes him look less like a thinking character and more like a puppet.

As far as the mechanics go, I think he's got a great snappy feel to him, and it's working great. On her, there's some issues with swimmyness, particularly in the part where she looks over, closes the makeup case, and looks back to her purse.

Very appealing shot, though, great work! :)

Daniel Huertas:

very nice! i like the concept and is simple and nice... I think you could have pushed a little bit more the child/cartoony style you were going for here.. lines of action at the beggining weren't too clear (left foot anticipating the cake on the table) maybe arching the cube's spine to have a nice reversal also..... nice job overall!

Will Mann:

Good use of the simple characters.

luc:

Very fun and original.

Ken Rice:

Funny

Renaud Déchaux:

Very good!

Emmanuel:

Nice animation! One note I'd probably critique in this animation is that when I was watching the animation, I kept on looking at the blue box because he did so much action. I had to watch it again to see what the pink expressions was. Maybe when he does his pause, looks at Mrs. Munchnik, then does his action. It's a bit easier to watch what each are doing, not at the same time, than both at once.

Steve Clarke:

Great style to this. Very cool and works well.

Erik Westlund:

Lots of great energy in the beginning. Nice contrast between characters in terms of movement/attitude. Its fun to watch him deflate... unfortunately this breaks with his "shocked" expression at the end. Seems arbitrary. What cute little cube people! I love the staccato eye blinks and bendy arms.

Alex Fundora:

Great animation for such simple characters! Only thing that catches me is the idea that he goes from ashamed when she says "a fruitcake" to suddenly surprised at the very end: I'm thinking the only reason he looks ashamed is because he knows it is a regift(fruitcakes aren't a bad gift =D ), but then for him to look suddenly surprised at the end doesn't make much sense b/c he already knows he was caught ! You did an awesome job animating munchnik, her calm movements as well as fussing with her stuff as she speaks makes her seem very secure~
cool fruitcake model, btw =] ^_^

Anton de la Campa:

absolutely LOVE the move with the glasses -- excellent!

Aaron Clement:

Great take on this... I love the fact you used boxes instead of the usual characters. The performance kinda suffered from no eyebrows, though... eyebrows add a lot to facial expressions... so a missed opportunity, there. I love the lighting and the general style felt nice... one of the better ones in my book.

Emmanuel Vergne:

Nice one !!!
I really like the contrast between the 2 characters : a speed/young one and another calm/old one. It works really well !

Tom Anderson:

Love it! The facial expressions are great, as well as your timing.

Frank G:

Wow, what a fruitcake! This is the best animation I've seen so far.
I thought he would be more pleased on his "Yes", as that makes MrsM.s put down more severe. Great hair!

Mariya Kalachova:

Awesome!! really shows you don't need complex character setups to create amazing character animation.

Taber Dunipace:

Ends too soon. I like these characters and the animation is pretty nice. I do think the acting could use improvement, such as when he's reacting to the "A fruitcake?" line.

Sunny Kharbanda:

Nice approach. The staging could use a little work though.. it would be good to give her a little more room and see more of her actions.

Mason Saucier:

I love the squash and stretch, good job on using the characters to their full capability!

Tim Nowak:

First place. Excellent animation skills. This is just what I had imagined. It's just perfect.

Justin Weg:

Haha, I don't know what it is, but I really like the simplicity of this one. Your characters are so simple yet are entertaining to watch, and they definitely show emotion and thought. Nice work!

ArunVijayan:

hey nice work!!!!exl'nt acting....and the attitude of the characters are perfectly readable..even though its just a box. Great work....keep it up.....

vanigoel:

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Korvar The Fox:

Well done, with very simple characters!

sharad kumar:

nice look buddy!

David Cordero:

I love the characters!!

Mat Brady:

Great anim, but try a more advanced set of models next time. You got the whole thing right tho. Good work.

Matt Kenley:

sweet rig

Damian Isherwood:

I like the snappiness, Mrs Muchnik seems the be very linears for alot of her timing, also she seems to be floaty, Carefull about animating in IK all the time, I find it tends to give a floaty motion.

Agne:

I love this one :D

Ramit Batra:

Bravo!
Superb Characters, Lovely Characterisation.
An overall Brilliant Scene!
Super Duper Animation!!

Virgil Tanasa:

very good, one of my favorites :)

Anirudh:

cool....nice poses of bot the characters, also the subtle actions of closing the hand mirror, seeing thru the glasses adds a lot of life, just one thing when the blue guy says "yes" around frame 212 his expression is sad, he should be kinda excited at that time i think. apart frm that very good work.

Chris de Souza:

Really well done! Very entertaining.

Ian Johnston:

The environment helps a finished product but where we're looking at animation. I thought this was great! I'm not really sure what emotion he's conveying on "yessss...", but the rest is snappy and I like the poppy style all together. Great focus. Maybe you could make his eyes pop large and ovular instead of staying round when his bluff is called to help accent the surprise. This is by far my favorite Mrs. Munchnik!

Marco Roberts:

I really like the style. very good

Eduardo Cavalcante Komaba:

niceeee!

Joe Jacob:

Love this! Deceptively simple, but excellently animated! My favorite of this month!

Kat Curry:

totally cute

Renn:

HAHA! Awesome job! Just shows simple ideas sometimes turn out best I guess! Great idea well executed, and animation is flawless! Possibly a bit too much movement in cubic elvis there, but other than that quirk, beautifully done all round! Just one star off for the strange expression at the end.

Nawaz:

woooooow!! u surely r a member of K.I.S.S. it looks really good, love the body movements, love the xpressions...just too good...

David Ruzicka:

the best

sandeep patel:

Nice One , Looks great...

Dan Weiland:

You got a lot of good expression out of those very simply characters. Good job.

HARISH:

good one ..i like the guyz expressions

Imus zai:

love the characters and love the fruit cake! critique:
he gets up set too early i think, it needs to happen in the end so he needs to keep his smile longer

gerardo castellanos:

really nice! I like her glasses

lizzie:

love the closing of the hand bag and subtle extras like that.
he should ave maybe had a little extra on the end rather than stopping on that awkward mouth shape

David Andrade:

Haha cute characters and style. The gestures work fantastically too! I think hei s a bit bouncy.. and it kind of distracts... a lot. I love he acting. She's excellent.

He needs a little more loving though. Everyone keeps using that yesss gesture. Try something different? Maybe make him deflated? yess... I just feels its a big gesture for what audio wise sounds like not as big.

sean:

Excellent style, timing, and facial animation. Lighting is very nice touch

Brad Regier:

i love the characters!
Their personalities are well contrasted.

adrian dawe:

nice timing..love the characters and great lipsink

Chia

Traci Plagmann:

Wow - great job. Love the life you've brought to the characters. Really nice squash and stretch on the bodies and nice settle on the arms. Love it!

deenad:

Nice fluid animation. Good work

Ambuj:

wow gud!! Just one thing - it feels like smashing the cake on the table to me at the start.

M.Bell:

Saw this when you posted it on GC-Talk not too long ago. Fun Characters / look. Great Stuff.

Richard Clark:

Awesome job!

Dave H Shovlin:

This is freakin awesome.

Yeray Díaz Díaz:

Nice characters, it's a pretty big challenge to character animate cubes but you've done a nice job. I like the contrast of the snappy male character and the slow tempo of the lady.

IMO there are a couple of motion problems, the male character throughs down the cake pretty strongly, but there's barely any recovery time or overlapping action for him, he's jumping back almost instantly. Also the final take needs a little more anticipation as I see it.

Still, it's a very nice piece, there's some nice acting on those cubes and that's not easy, congratulations!

jonathan fontaine:

such great characters !
far the best of all entries this month

mohinder kaur:

nicely-squasy-stretchy!

selvaraj:

I like you very much your animation.

Ben Hammersley:

nice
